Iain Gunn
After graduating U.B.C. with a BFA in Painting, Printmaking and Conceptual Photography, Iain was drawn to the immediate creative element of street action and theatre, giant puppetry, commedia dell'arte, butoh dance, and shadow puppetry. While continuing with visual art and co-founding an artist run studio in Vancouver B.C., he studied contact dance and helped throw underground parties and happenings. After volunteering with a program that taught street performance to homeless teens, Iain became a stiltwalker and firedancer and began the troupe DakinDeva Performance Arts, who were artist's in Residence at the San Diego Children's Museum amongst their other exploits. Also performing in San Diego, LA, at Burning Man, and the Gathering of the Tribes conferences. With a growing focus on puppet building for parade and spectacle and a desire to incorporate circus arts and theatre in performances Mythologram Theatre was started out of a several year collaboration with the San Diego Guild of Puppetry who Iain designs, builds, directs, performs, and teaches for. His newest project, Animal Cracker Conspiracy, is lately taking him all around the world.
